Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable sector is poised for record growth, with export revenue expected to hit USD 4 billion by the end of 2018, according to agricultural experts. This milestone would mark a major achievement for the industry, fulfilling the annual target set by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Strong Performance Throughout the Year
During the first nine months of 2018, Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable exports surged by 17.1%, reaching an estimated USD 3.1 billion, compared to the same period the previous year.
In September alone, the sector earned around USD 380 million, contributing to a cumulative total of USD 3.1 billion for the first three quarters — averaging over USD 1 billion per quarter.
Global Demand Continues to Rise
With global demand for fresh and processed produce climbing, particularly in China, Japan, the United States, and South Korea, Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable exports are expected to maintain strong momentum through the fourth quarter of 2018.
Industry analysts predict that this trend will help push total export earnings to around USD 4 billion for the year — reaffirming Vietnam’s growing reputation as a key supplier of tropical fruits and high-quality agricultural goods to global markets.
A Step Forward for Vietnam’s Agricultural Brand
The success of Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable exports demonstrates the country’s shift toward high-value agricultural products and its commitment to sustainable, quality-focused farming practices.
By investing in modern preservation, packaging, and export logistics, Vietnamese producers are not only meeting international standards but also enhancing the appeal of Vietnamese fruits in major markets around the world.
Vietnam’s journey toward becoming a leading exporter of fruits and vegetables reflects more than economic growth — it showcases a dedication to innovation, sustainability, and global collaboration in agriculture.
